I hate having to have my M~I~L come here to watch Mason. My house was by no means dirty but it is now spotless and I once again can't find anything. She also woke Mason up from his nap early.
She got here around 3:30 and I told her Mason would sleep until around 5 or 5:30. So I leave the house at 3:45. She woke him at 4. She couldn't even wait 15 minutes.
It really surprises me. She LOVES schedules and doesn't like to deviate off of them. I think the Grandma in her over powered the anal retentiveness in her.
Maybe there is hope for her.

Yeah... that was... um... yeah...

So we got tons of snow two weeks ago. We got somewhere around 8 or 9 inches in one week. We were expecting the wind to start blowing Saturday afternoon which would then create blizzard like conditions.

We had planned on getting together with Austin's parents for their Christmas on Sunday so I made the executive decision to just go over on Saturday and stay the night. That way we wouldn't have to worry about traveling even that short distance with Mason.

Saturday everything is going good I have the car loaded with everything we are going to need and extra. I say extra because I already had Mason and I already packed to go down to southwest Iowa for Christmas and instead of pulling out just what we would need I just put our whole bags in the car. Which turned out to be a good thing.

So, anyways, Saturday is going good. It isn't too cold out the wind isn't blowing yet and Mason and I are just about ready to go. Austin has agreed to come over later and bring the Wii with some games.

Just as I am taking Mason out to the car the wind starts up. So off we go. By the time I get to the highway... I can see nothing.

Don't think I let that stop me.

Nope.

I knew that it would only affect me for a couple of miles. About an hour later we get there. They have a really long and curvy driveway we get about halfway down it we can see the house and we get stuck in a snow drift to the side of the drive way.

Jeff's plowing abilities leave something to be desired. It is like he is afraid to lower the bucket anymore. There was probably a good 4 inches of snow still on the drive.

Jeff had to come rescue us. He finally got the car to the house later that afternoon after he got it stuck again and then had to hooked the tractor up to it.

Mason was in heaven playing with Cheyenne (playful 7 year old Black Lab) and Boots (2 year old kitty). Saturday afternoon I helped Robin get ready for Sunday. I made my bread while she made the cherry dessert and pumpkin pies. I was to bring the rolls for lunch on Sunday so I don't think that was considered helping but I didn't make a bigger mess anyways.

Her kitchen is set up very weird. As in she has things in the most illogical places. I don't know how many times I would ask her where something was and she would have to open several doors or drawers to find it.

Austin finally showed up around supper time. We had chili with cornbread. It would have been perfect but Robin didn't have baking powder. Who doesn't keep baking powder in the house? The corn bread was still good it just didn't raise like cakes usually do.

After supper we all played Wii and got beat at bowling by Robin. Austin beat us all in Golf, at least the first game. I took the second which is how it should have been anyways.

Mason went to bed around 8:30 like normal and was good. The rest of us stayed up later playing Wii. I finally gave it up about 10 and went to bed. I thought Austin would follow later. I wake up at 3 to let the dog outside and Austin wasn't in bed.

My first thought was that crazy bastard is staying up all night playing video games.

Imagine my surprise when I go upstairs and everything is dark and his pick up is gone out of the driveway.

Yep!! That crazy SOB went home. In blizzard conditions. I was less than thrilled.

Don't even begin to think that I stayed up all night worrying about him. NOPE! I went back to bed and slept peacefully until Mason woke up at 8. I figure he had a cell phone on him and would have called if he had run into trouble.

The next morning was Sunday and we were celebrating Christmas. Austin showed up around 10:30. I didn't even get a chance to give him a proper tongue lashing because his mother took care of it for me. She was mad. Austin took it all in stride and actually laughed at the end.

Princess Hateful Raquel and Dan showed up around 11:30. I don't know what it is about her but Hyde just loves her. He jumps in her arms and whines when she puts him down. I don't get it. It is a little annoying when my child follows the dogs lead and follows her around and gives her kisses.

As annoying as she is at least she doesn't talk non-stop. I swear Dan doesn't shut up. I know in a normal house this wouldn't be a big deal and would most likely be considered starting a conversation but this isn't a normal family. It just feels like he asks a hundred questions.

This family doesn't have normal conversations they have heated debates. These debates are not rational and are not held before lunch they are held after dessert over a game of cribbage. Everything else can be considered polite chit-chat.

We didn't end up going home this day either because it was too darn cold out and the roads were too bad. Austin drove through drifts that came up to the bumper on his truck. He sure didn't let that stop him from going home though. He got to go home and ended up playing Wii all night.

I ended up having to sit through some uncomfortable silences. I am sure it didn't feel uncomfortable to Robin and Jeff but it was for me. How was I to get comfortable with my M-I-L reading my mind all evening. It did get better when she got out her new camera and started playing with it. At least until she started to ask me a hundred questions. Not that I mind answering questions it is just the way she asks them. Like she has perfect timing that as soon as I start to do something else she calls me over again. I think Austin gets this from her because he does the same thing.

Monday afternoon Robin and I took Mason to town. First we went to lunch at Perkins. Mason charmed all the young college students that were stuck working during break. There was a young couple there sitting in the booth across from us and Mason kept turning around and flirting with them both. Just being generally cute and the husband says 'If you could guarantee that our kids would turn out like that I wouldn't mind having one or two.' The wife was so happy after she heard that. After they left Robin looks at me and says 'Man are they in for it. They don't know that Mason threw 2 tantrums just on the way into the building.'

Next we went to see Santa. Mason was so excited to get to sit in Santa's lap and pull on his beard. Thankfully we got one with a real beard. Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas and all I could understand was truck and baby and then he throws his head back and laughs. Santa was surprised and asked me his age twice.

By the time we got back home the roads were good enough for Mason and I to go home. So I loaded up the car and attempted to get the car out of the driveway. It only took two tries and the tractor.

When we got home the house looked like I hadn't been home in a month. There wasn't a clean dish or any silverware and there was just junk everywhere. I was less than thrilled considering I had just cleaned it Friday and it was only Monday.

After some power cleaning and doing some major laundry it sure felt good to sleep in my own bed considering it would be the only time for over a week.

Thanksgiving...

This year for Thanksgiving we are staying home and having friends over. Well friends and Austin's parents.
I decided that I didn't want to drive for 3+ hours to see my family for an hour. Luckily our friends felt the same way so we are all meeting at my house.
I love to cook so we are going all out. The only thing I am not making is the pies because Austin's mom wants to. That is just fine with me I don't especially like to make pie. Especially pumpkin pie.
I am really surprised that his parents decided to join us. I think they are even more antisocial than Austin. They say they don't like to come over when we have friends over because they feel as though they are intruding. Mind you, I am a sweet and wonderful daughter-in-law when they are around. Sweet and wonderful dammit!! So much so that it is just wrong, sometimes I am afraid my face will break. It really doesn't go with my personality.
We get together with our friends and their parents all the time. So it isn't like it is an unusual occurrence for one or more sets of parents to be at our gatherings. I think it is just something they will have to get over.
Thursday should be fun. Busy but fun. Austin has decided that we need to have turkey and ham. I think he just doesn't want everyone eating his turkey. Which is odd considering I have made 4 turkeys this year. This will be number 5, I figured he would be tired of it by now. I spoil him shamelessly. I really should stop. I guess it probably makes up for all my other... um... "good wife" behavior.
Now I just have to hope that Mason's black eye is gone by Thursday. Poor little kid is Austin's, that is for sure. So. I will set the scene. We were all in the kitchen and I was making supper. Austin, Mason and Hyde are all playing with a ball on the floor. I go to the fridge to get out the butter, it is one of those fridges that has the freezer on the bottom, so I had the door open and Mason gets up to chase the ball and runs right in to the corner of the fridge door. He cried a little bit but then got distracted when Hyde tried to run off with 'Mine', his bear. So his eye is to the ugly brownish greenish stage.
I realize that little kids get hurt and I wouldn't be afraid to take him to my any one of my family because they know things like this happen and aren't judgemental. They wouldn't ask where I was when it happened. Then look at me like I was the devil when I said right there beside him. So just to keep everyone happy on Thanksgiving I really hope it is gone. After all I am just the 'spoiled princess' who married her wonderful son.
It's alright I am laughing too. At least Princess Hateful Raquel isn't coming this year. I am afraid I won't be as fortunate come Christmas. She better not even think she is controlling Christmas this year. She might run her husbands families holidays but she has to remember I am the only daughter-in-law on this side and I run things. I can't wait for the fight that will ensue. It should be monumental because she wants to get together on Christmas at her parents house that is 3+ hours from where we are going to be. Can you tell I am excited just thinking about it. I really can't wait to show her who is boss exactly. I think it is about time to remind her that I always get what I want by being sweet and wonderful dammit!!
I know the holidays really bring out my... um... yeah... good side... yeah that is what it is called.

Well...

surprise... surprise... the mother-in-law canceled on me.
I can't say that I was too disappointed as some of you might have gathered I was not looking forward to this expedition per say. There are a certain number of things that as a daughter-in-law I have to subject myself to so that I look good and they can't try to blame anything on me. ie: not getting to see their grandson- that is their own damn fault
So for the sake of looking good I invited Robin and Raquel to this craft show. Raquel is still mad at me so she didn't even respond but Robin said she would "pencil it in". I had been waiting for the phone call canceling. Well she didn't even call she emailed. Either way I wasn't surprised. I just made plans to go with my friend Lisa. The craft show was a bust but we had fun anyways. I did get a couple of things at the craft show and as soon as I get them hung up I will be posting pictures.

Alone in a car with a mind reader... am I crazy?

Saturday, Austin's mom and I are going to a craft show in northern Iowa. Alone. As in together. Alone. In a car with a mind reader. Alone. Should be interesting. Hopefully Mason will keep her occupied. I also invited Princess Hateful Raquel, but she declined. I am sure Robin and her are going the next weekend. I can't imagine she would let this go and be left out completely.

Sunday, I am having a girls day with a couple of moms from MOPS. We are going to the same craft show. Austin is keeping Mason all day, by himself. I don't feel one bit guilty. I deserve to get out of the house too.

Going to the grocery store alone does not count, trust me. Nor does mowing the yard I don't care what Austin's argument for this is. It still does not count.

hmmm...

So much to blog about so little time.

The bathroom is coming along nicely. I have been taking photos since the beginning and will get around to posting some soon. I promise.

I think I have decided on a color. Ponytail by Dutchboy. It is a warm sandy color. I found a green I absolutely love called Happy Camper by Behr but it wouldn't go with my Americana stuff. So for now I will keep it a neutral color and maybe in a couple of years change it. After all paint is cheap. It is the so called free labor I pay through the nose for. Austin is always reminding me about something nice he has done for me. I love him that should be all the payment he needs.

Funny note because I am sick like this: Austin put his knee through the ceiling in the bathroom while putting a light in. I knew he would end up putting some part of his body through at some point. No I wouldn't have thought it so funny if he had actually gotten hurt or if we already had the drywall up and he put his knee through it. He actually lied to me and told me he didn't when I could plainly see the spot where his knee had come through. Incidentally shaped like his knee. He was afraid I was going to make him come down and put ice on it. Well I figure he is 26 and it will be his own fault if he can't move it in the morning. And yes I will laugh then also.

Austin's mother is trying really hard to talk to me. She has been trying to send me an e-mail everyday.

Truthfully I rather liked it before when I wouldn't hear from them for weeks at a time. Made my life a whole lot more uncomplicated. At least she is making an effort now to get to know me, know me. I think it is about time Austin and I have only been married for what 8 years.

Austin tells me it is because she doesn't know whether to believe Raquel on a couple of things so she figures what better way to figure out the truth than by talking to me everyday. It doesn't matter to me. It truthfully doesn't take that long to send a reply to e-mail. It is much easier to sound interested in e-mail also. Over the phone it is hard to disguise your voice to interested. I get caught all the time. Some people just don't appreciate good sarcasm.

Mason is getting his first hair cut the first weekend of September. I have a wedding to go to in Tabor so I will also be getting my hair cut. I can't wait. I think I have decided to go short. I just haven't decided how short. I am thinking below shoulders to begin with and if I decide to go shorter then I can do that the next time I go down home. My hair grows fast enough that I don't have to worry about going too short. I haven't decided on bangs yet or not. So many decisions so little time. I also have to decide if I want layers and to get my hair thinned. Now that most of the post pregnancy hair loss hair has grown back I have way way too much hair and it gives my migraines to wear it in ponytail all the time. To tell the truth I will probably tell Val to do whatever she wants with it. I truly don't care.

Austin always ask why I drive 3 hours to get my hair cut. Well quite honestly because I know I'm going to get a good cut and because I will already be down there seeing my family. So I guess I really don't drive 3 hours to get my hair cut I really only drive 5 minutes.

When I go to people up here I never know what kind of cut I will end up with. When I leave the salon I want to be able to go home and straighten my hair and have it look good. Nice and even with no stragglers. Up home it is a crapshoot. I went a whole year without having to pay for a hair cut. I actually had women that would go on break as soon as they saw me come in. Chickens!! I never actually yelled at them. I would go home and straighten my hair and come back in and show them how uneven it was.

I know why go somewhere where the cut will suck. Well my hair grows on average a little over an inch every month so it won't look horrible for too long and... well... its free. I don't have to worry about that in Tabor and it cost about half of one in Ames. I cheated and cut it myself yesterday. Just the bang area and into the left side because it grows so much faster than the rest. It was driving me crazy.

Well I think I have blabbered on enough for tonight. Mason gets up way too early. It is like he knows the nights I don't go to bed until late. Tomorrow I will tell you all about my day home with Austin. I know everyone just loves those post.

Hateful Sneaky People

Well I have had quite the week. Let me start off by saying that I have done nothing wrong. Now that I've said that let me start with a little background.

Austin has this sister named Princess Hateful Raquel. Raquel got married in November to a man who is 36,Dan, and has a 19 year old daughter, Amanda. (Do the math it is important for later) Well in February Amanda announces she is pregnant. That would make Raquel a soon to be 28 year old step-grandma. We will just say that Princess Hateful Raquel did not take this very good. (I thought is was quite hilarious)

Dan and Raquel tired to convince Amanda to give the baby up for adoption. Naturally Amanda didn't want to. (This is where the math comes in.) Amanda is hurt by this because they keep bringing it up and she has told them that she absolutely will not be giving her baby up. This really angers Raquel because she is used to getting what she wants when she wants. In the meantime Amanda and her boyfriend, Kevin, are making plans to get married getting stuff around for baby and going on with life. Raquel is stewing mad. Calls to complain to her parents (don't worry they come into play also) and starts telling lies about Kevin.

Amanda not getting much support from Dad and having no friends who have had babies contacts me over myspace and we have been talking about the baby and only the baby. Raquel had not been mentioned until the topic of the baby shower came up. (more on that later) I would also like to point out that I have been talking to Amanda since around the time of the wedding.

So now we can fast forward to the end of July. Amanda is having a baby shower thrown for her by her mom. I was invited because I am more friend than step-mothers family. Raquel was also invited along with Dan because they are having a dual purpose shower. Amanda is getting married this afternoon so the shower will be a baby shower wedding reception in one.

Dan and Raquel are not going!

Dan is already missing the nuptials and now the reception. Why you might ask. Well because his new wife doesn't want to go.

So I had already told Amanda that I would go and Raquel was mad. So now she has been calling her mom and dad and telling them all these bad things about Kevin and got them all worried that I was going to take my son with me to this shower.

Well Robin, MIL, talked to Austin at work and told him all this stuff that Raquel had told her and asked him if he was aware that I was going to take his son with me to the shower and that she didn't think it was a very good idea. Mind you she expected him to come home and just put his foot down and tell me I wasn't going and that I sure wasn't going to take his son with me. Anyone that knows me knows that is not how things work in my marriage. I believe there is too much respect between us to think one could control the other. Austin told her that he trust me and doesn't trust Raquel as far as he can throw her. That he doesn't believe half of the stuff out of her mouth because we have caught her in so many lies. This really upset his mom. She asked him why Raquel and him don't get along and so he told her why. He was brutally honest and didn't leave anything out.

Austin came home and told me all that his mother said and I discounted everything and explained to him what really happened and sorted out all the lies Raquel had told. Then I mentioned to him that his mom really expected him to put his foot down and forbid me from going. He didn't believe me. I might have been pissed that she did it. After all it was really backhanded and put a blog on my myspace that said:

-I’m Tired
Current mood: bullied
My husband will no longer be acting like a middle person. If anyone has concerns involving me or our son then they need to contact me directly. I'm tired of Austin being in the middle. I don't bite and am tired of the polite conversation and cold shoulders. I'm sure things get lost in translation. I would hate to think that people don't think I can take care of Mason and myself.
10:39 PM - 0 Comments - 0 Kudos - Add Comment - Edit - Remove -

Well Princess Hateful Raquel has access to my myspace and called her mom and told her what I had wrote the next morning when she saw it. Well Robin had a talk with Austin about it and it came out that she didn't expect him to talk to me about the shower conversation. (I got to say I TOLD YOU SO) He wasn't upset with me about the myspace blog. He was a little shocked but what was I to do when all they will talk to me about is the weather. They will even wait until I leave the room and then ask Austin the question then when I come back in the room Austin will ask me the question. I have started to just whisper the answers to him because we have an agreement that if one of us whispers the question or answer it is to stay between the two of us. I think it really annoys them. I know I do not care though.

It really bothered me to have to call Amanda and tell I wouldn't be going to the shower because Mason is sick and I don't want to get her sick. It is almost like they won. I can't stand that.

I am so glad that my family is loving and in your face. They don't mince words. They tell you exactly how they feel and give you opinions on everything. Austin thinks it is their way of trying to run my life but I don't see it that way because I can call them idiots and tell them I love them all in the same breath.

So that is how my week has gone. Austin told me he actually ducked into the bathroom to avoid his mom at work. How sad!

I think I have TB...

I sat at a booth at the county fair for a good portion of the week. I think I have cronic TB, otherwise known as Tired Butt.

It was a nice week. I personally had fun. We were in an air conditioned building so we didn't have to deal with the heat and humidity. I'm sure I would be singing a different tune if it had been the other way around.

My house has suffered greatly with my being gone so much. With Austin fending for himself my dishes had piled up to a shameful level but I could not bring myself to stay up late and wash them. I did make sure they were scrapped though. Nothing worse that putting your hand on a dirty plate and not knowing what it was.

I have realized that Austin just will not wash dishes and the fight to try to get him to is not worth it. After all I do not like sleeping on the couch and still having a grouchy husband. I much rather like to 'play' with him than to 'fight'. Call me crazy. And besides he is starting on my bathroom this week. I can hardly contain my excitement. But now back to my case of TB.

I even took Mason with me to the fair a couple of days and he did awesome. He really loves his stroller and will sit in it for hours just waiting for it to move. Everyone that saw him had to comment on how well behaved he was. Don't think I made him stay in the stroller the whole time I did let him out to play. I am just glad I don't have one those kids that always wants out of the stroller to get into trouble. He is happy with a couple of toys to play with on his tray.

So after me being gone a good majority of the week Austin decides that he is ready to start the bathroom and needs me to pick out stuff. Little did I know that he had planned on his parents coming over on Sunday morning. His mom to watch Mason while he and his dad worked on AutoCad laying out the plans for the bathroom. So instead of me being home washing dishes and cleaning he had me go with him to Lowe's and Menards. We would literally get home put Mason to bed and then go to bed ourselves.

So my house was a disaster when my mother-in-law came over on Sunday morning. How embarrassing. Austin didn't even care. Maybe that is because I try so hard to keep the house so that I can enjoy it. I know my idea of clean (lived in but tidy) and his mom's idea of clean are not the same thing (think sterile hospital). I could have strung him up by his toenails.

Father's Day

We did exactly what Austin wanted to do. Absolutely nothing. It was wonderful.

Saturday we went to his parents house for a cookout. Austin's sister, Raquel, was also suppose to be there. Well we were to eat at 6. At 6:30 his mom calls Raquel and she said she had "forgot" it was Saturday and "thought" we were all getting together on Sunday. Can I just say 'Are you fucking kidding me!!!' She knew better. I talked to her about it on Friday and she asked if we were going to be there Saturday. I hate her so much. We know why she didn't come. Austin's mom asked me why she would do that so I told her 'Raquel likes to believe she is an only child. She tries to dis invite us to everything or leave us out completely. If we don't get the invite directly from you and she is to let us know then she will lie to you and tell you we couldn't or didn't want to come.' Then I gave her several examples where she has pulled that kind of stuff and all she said was 'That explains a lot.' Well DUH!

Other than that it was good. Truth be told Austin and I were relieved she didn't show up. We didn't really want to have to hear how their "honeymoon" was. Sorry it was just a vacation!! They lived together for 2 f'n years before they got married.

I guess if we are going on their logic then the vacation Austin and I are going on next week can be considered a 'honeymoon'. Wish us luck we are sharing a room with my little sister Cameron!! I feel bad for her now. Okay maybe not that bad;)

"She got to us first"

I will start this one with a little background. Austin and I have been together for 12 years this June. We will have been married for 8 of these years on June 24. That is a long time. In this time I have been a fair, sweet, understanding, willing to please, and dare I say loving daughter-in-law. I have gone out of my way to be nice to my horribly spoiled sister-in-law. I have been more than fair in the way we split major holidays. Never once have I told his family no we can't do this or won't do that.

Well about a month ago I asked Austin's parents what was going on for mother’s day. I was told they would check with S-I-L and see if they were going to celebrate with us at their house. Well two weeks ago I asked again and got the same answer and that they would let us know. So last Wednesday I sent my M-I-L an e-mail and asked again. No answer so they called about asparagus and I asked, again, and was told "S-I-L is taking us out to dinner" I replied "would have been nice if she had invited everybody to celebrate the family holiday" To which they replied "She got to us first" I was simply livid. Got to them first my butt. Needless to say I ended the call rather quickly and informed Austin that I was done trying with his family. He was very loving and supportive because he has never cared one way or the other. He very nicely summed it up by saying "You can only make excuses for people for so long before you run out of them. I am out of excuses."

Well I am tired of being ignored, shoved out of the way, left out, taken for granted, and pissed on in general. I refuse for Mason to see his Mother being treated this way or to feel like she is being treated this way. I have taken control of my family. We will do what I see fit when I see fit. Austin has agreed to this by saying "Evidently playing favorites is not the way to raise children". I couldn't agree more. He can go see his parents when he wants by himself. If they want to see my child they can call and invite the whole family. Not just one or two of us. He has also agreed that as soon as Raquel says something snide we can leave no excuses need to be given. Have I said lately that I absolutely Love Love Love my husband. He is better than I deserve but I am not giving him up for anything.

So for Mothers Day I got to sleep in and then we went to town and had lunch with his parents. (How sad that you only want to spend long enough to eat with your son and grandson on Mothers Day. I told my husband that if I had known how my mothers day was going to end up being that I would have been stashing money away for gas to go to my grandmothers to spend the day with my family. Why because they were ALL there. Not one or two but all. That is the way I want Mason to remember holidays being. Warm and loving with everyone in attendance. Not an hour at a restaurant.

Super Bowl Sunday

Well here we are it is Sunday morning. Super Bowl Sunday. Should be a good game. I haven't decided if I will watch it or not. I am sure I will catch bits and pieces.

Friday I had to go and get the car registrations renewed and Mason and I took a tumble on the ice. Mason didn't even touch the ground until after I was down. Evidently self preservation doesn't work if you are holding your child. My knees took most of the impact. Both are bruised and funky colors. After I had stopped falling I sat Mason on the ground. I figured he would start crying but no he started playing with the snow and giggling.

Saturday I went with my mother and sister-in-law to a pampered chef party. After the party I met Austin at his parents house for supper. Lucky for us Raquel stayed around for supper. Yeah lucky us. The only time she was pleasent was while we were at the party. O'well.

Austin cut some wood over at his parents house. Evidently all the wood we have here is too wet to burn. Whatever, I guess I don't really care. At least he didn't have me out there "helping".

Quiet Sunday

Usually on Sundays my house is rather loud. Between Hyde and Mason fighting for Austin's attention and the TV or radio it is rather noisy. Not today. Austin has the flu so he is in bed. Mason doesn't know he is home so he thinks it is a work day so we are on schedule and Mason is napping. Hyde knows that Austin is home and upstairs under the electric blanket. Hyde is not stupid so he is up there as well. Being the spoiled dog that he is he is also under the blanket. Only I am awake. I am not doing anything noisy like washing dishes because I don't want to disturb Austin. I know I am such a good wife. Really I am I don't even dry heave when I empty his bucket. Maybe that has more to do with a strong stomach over being a good wife, but we aren't going to split hairs. For today I am a good wife. I will get back to my normal self after he is feeling better. I refuse for this change to be anywhere near permanent. I would hate for him to expect me to be this complacent all the time.

Now on another note. My mother-in-law, Robin, Mason and I went to church today. My front windshield cracked from the cold. Mason had a pooplosion at church and again at Perkins afterwards. Two in one day. That is a record for him. Reading this it might sound like I had a bad day but that is not the case. I am having a good hair day so all this other stuff is trivial. If I had been having a bad or even just okay hair day it would be a different story.

As I was taking a photo of the said good hair to prove it I noticed that I am starting to look old. Well okay maybe not old but deffinatly tired.

I have bags under my eyes.

Where in the world did that zit come from?

My lips are chapped from the below zero temps.

This is why most photos are of the back of my head.

I don't care though because I am having a good hair day.

This is how my hair is usually worn. Mason is too quick on the grabbing.

Amazing what a couple of minutes with a curling iron will do.

Maybe one of these days I'll get my straight iron back from Cammie.

Weekend Plans

Austin's mom is going to watch Mason tonight so we can go to the birthday dinner. She is excited, she just finished her classes on Tuesday, so, she is available. She also gets to watch on him Sunday because I am making Austin help me clean out the basement. I want everything put away or thrown away. I am tired of walking around his boxes. If it has been in a box for over 2 years we evidently don't need it. I don't even remember what all is down there. I found a tote with empty boxes for things we don't even own anymore. Stuff like that can find its way to the burn barrel.

If we have time I am going to make help me finish cleaning out the closet in the bathroom. He said if I could live without that closet then he would seriously consider moving my washer and dryer. He is afraid that the bathroom will be really messy if we move them because of all the dirty clothes that will be in there. I had to remind him that that is where the dirty clothes sit now until I am ready to wash them. I don't know if he thought I was running them downstairs every night, or what. Sometimes I think he is crazy. So anyways he wants me to prove that I can live without that closet. Not a problem. Even though there will storage space beside the w&d. I can do it. I think he is afraid of losing the closet. He keeps more in it than me.

Bad Weather

I love snow. I don't love ice. That is what we woke up to Saturday. Now where we live any ice and we the power flickers and is crappy. So for Mason's sake we went to Austin's Mom's house for the day. We had fun. Well at least Mason and I did. Austin just dropped us off and came back home. I have no clue what he did. Don't think I didn't ask either. He just said he worked outside. I know, he did, his carhart coat was soaked. I think he was out in the barn working. I know I said "in" the barn but the barn needs torn down so it isn't in the best of shape. I think he might have been in the chicken coop part. The chicken coop is in a part of the lean-to area and they only part of the roof that is complete in that area is where the chickens are kept.

I knew he hadn't been working on the corncrib because if it didn't kill him I would. He has done a lot work to get it down, so now we are just waiting for it to fall on its own. When the wind is blowing you can hear it creaking.

When I let Hyde out in the mornings I have to go out also and stand with him. Mainly to make sure he goes #1 and #2. Otherwise he will hold it as long as possible and then he whimpers the whole time he goes. So anyways I was outside waiting on the dog and walked around to the barn and corncrib to see what he was doing and then I saw the tracks leading to the grove of trees. My husband had been cutting down a tree. I normally wouldn't care but Saturday it was raining and snowing. All around it was just a horrible day. At least he wasn't working on the corncrib.
