My Vacation

Yesterday when I got home from Sioux City I called a friend and we went to Hobby Lobby and met another friend for supper. After supper we went to Target and WalMart. I didn't get home until midnight last night. I had forgotten what it was like to just goof off with girlfriends.
The poor little dog had only spent about 3 hours out of the kennel yesterday afternoon.
Then this morning I was only able to sleep in till 8:30.
Literally. I could only sleep till 8:30. How disappointing. I didn't have to leave until noon today and that was all the later I could sleep.
Pathetic.
Just PATHETIC!!
Today I had a MOPS meeting at our new church with the pastor. The meeting took a lot longer than I thought it would and pushed me off schedule the rest of the day.
After the meeting I had a mini newborn shoot. (just the poses she wanted)
It went well and the baby slept the whole time. We sweated. Oh, my, was it ever hot and humid today. We took the photos on her screened in sun porch for the natural light. Baby was happy but we were miserable. I am fairly sure Baby didn't care though.
After that I finally got to come home. To my nice quiet house. I can finally get some work done without someone screeching at the gate or asking me what is for supper. I'm taking advantage of this.
It is amazing how much work I can get done without those two distractions.
Tomorrow I have to meet with a gal that was on the MOPS steer team and get some stuff from her. Then I've got to work at 4.
I figure Austin and Mason will be home by the time I get home from work. Even though he has told me he won't be home until Friday afternoon I know how he works. I'm not stupid.
So now I'm off to learn how to burn CDs on the Flash (my new computer). I decided to name it such because it was bought with my flash money.
Guilt trip for Austin. We'll see how long till I get my flash now.

Vacation? For Who, Not Me!!

So my husband is on vacation for two weeks. Thankfully he decided, ha decided, to go to his grandparents house for a couple of days.
He had some help in this decision. A little persuasion you might say.
My husband is a spoiled grandchild.
Grandpa has been trying to buy my husband a new truck for years. And for years my husband has been telling him no. Gotta hand it to him on wanting to make his own money and not caring what the rest of the family thinks. But it comes to the point that it would make his grandfather so happy to give him this truck. Grandpa has it in his head that the Awesome Green Truck is a hazard.
Well he found a way to get around Austin telling him no.
He called last week and said 'I've decided to make you my hired hand and you need a truck to drive so I can claim it as a tax write off.' Austin couldn't say no to that.
I think Austin had that AHAA moment. Finally. It took him long enough. Honestly...
So Tuesday early I had to get up and take Austin and Mason to Sioux City to pick up the pick up. From there they went on down to visit the grandparents.
I told Austin not to come home before Friday and if at all possible to stay a couple of days longer.
Funny note my husband packed himself and Mason and only took 2 diapers for Mason. He forgot the diapers in my trunk. Now he can't tease me about forgetting anything ever again. I think he learned that it is harder to pack for two. I've been giggling about it since I noticed the diapers in the trunk. I didn't even call to warn him. What fun would that have been?

I have started...

to count down the days until Austin leaves again...

Finally

Austin is finally home. I slept so good last night.
It was a long week. I didn't get done nearly everything I wanted to get done but that is okay because he leaves again next month. I will probably start counting down the days next week.
For now it is just nice to have him home.

Blah Blah Blah

I am ready for Austin to be home. It is too quiet here. Not to mention dark. Hyde is on guard duty and has been barking at nothing all night. As you can imagine that is more than enough to set me on edge.
I tried to go to bed but couldn't settle down enough to sleep so I gave up and am now playing on the computer. I should be washing dishes or something but I just don't feel like it. I know hard to believe. Austin isn't home and so I don't feel like the house has to be clean so it isn't. I will have to some heavy duty cleaning on Sunday. Very heavy duty.
I have been mudding in the bathroom. Another light coat and some light light sanding and we will be ready to paint. My neck and back hurt from doing the ceiling. I am just not tall enough to do it without being on a chair. I tried it with the ladder but it was big and bulky and hard to maneuver in that little area. I would just leave the ceiling for Austin but I do a much neater job and any time I thought would be saved by having him do it would be wasted by the sloppy job he would do that I would have to sand. So really I am just saving myself time and aggravation. So I guess that is something anyways.
Mason tried to put himself to sleep again tonight. He was playing in the toy box and just walked over to the dirty clothes I was sorting and laid down and snuggled up to one of Austin's dirty work shirts. I took pity on the poor child and he threw a fit when he dropped the dirty shirt. I let him take it up to bed and sleep with it. I figure Austin has a desk job so it isn't like his shirts get that dirty. It was so cute when I put him in his crib he had to adjust the shirt so that he was laying on one arm and had the other on over him. I would have taken a picture but my camera battery is on the charger. I think I will take a photo of it before I go to bed.
Well I think I'm off to go take a hot soak in the tub. Maybe that will get me tired...

Procrastinating....

We have been really busy lately. I made it to the freak show family reunion. It was just beautiful out. Seventy and sunny with just the slightest breeze. Mason was cute and as well behaved as can be expected of a one-year-old. He positively charmed everyone as he was eating off of everyones plate. Even though the little stinker had his own.
Austin left for Germany on Tuesday. He drove himself to work in the horrid awesome green truck of his. We debated on whether or not I should drive him in and finally decided that I wouldn't be needing the truck so he took it...it really is true what they say about hindsight being 20/20. I ended up needing the truck and he had the keys in his pocket sitting in a meeting in Germany. Great place for them...
Our adopted dog, Bubba, passed away Tuesday evening as I was leaving for my MOPS steer team meeting. Bubba was close to 18 and it was his time. He passed peacefully and will be greatly missed. Bubba came with the house because he wouldn't stay away and we didn't really want him to leave anyways. The previous owners, Mel and Olive, have said all along that they would like to have him cremated and the cremains mailed to them. I respected their wishes and had to take him to be cremated today. To do this I had to go borrow my father-in-laws truck and then I had to get one of the neighbors to help me load him. I am not sure who was crying harder, me or the neighbor. Have I mentioned that I love my little corner of the world. I have the absolute best neighbors.
My father-in-law had to have his appendix out Friday so he is still recovering from surgery. Otherwise he would have come over and helped me load him. Jeff is recovering nicely. He still can't lift Mason even though he tries. I am afraid he will hurt himself but he won't listen to me.
I have told Austin that he can no longer out of the country. Every time he leaves something happens to make me feel completely helpless. Every time he has gone to Germany something has died. I told him that we only have Mason and Hyde here and I couldn't bear to loose either of them so once he gets home he is home for good. (Some of this might have been said through some hysterical tears and raging hormones although I can't be entirely certain.)
So... that is what has been going on here. Now instead of blogging I need to get my newsletter finished for MOPS tomorrow. It is amazing that even on my weakest days I feel strong being surrounded by other breathtakingly genuine mothers. I do not know what I would do without this wonderful group of women to lean on and complain to laugh with. Our theme this year is Adventures in Mothering. It truly has been that. From the moment we found out about Mason it has been an adventure. My mother upon hearing the theme for this year said there needed to be a group with a theme called Adventures in Marriage. I suggested to her that she needed to write a book about her Adventure in Marriage. It would certainly be a comedy about a tragedy.
Well I have procrastinated long enough. If only I could write the newsletter like I do this blog....

AHHHH!!!

Austin is coming home today! I am so excited I just cannot wait. This week has gone by so slow and been so hot and down right miserable out. I am just ready to have him home.
Then I can start counting down the days until he goes out of town again... I think I get just as excited for that because then he is out of my hair for a couple of days. I just can't handle the week long business trips. I rather like the one or two night ones.

Just call me 'Snake Killer'....

Hyde found a snake in the basement yesterday afternoon. A real live snake.
Now it is a dying snake with a glass bowl over it. I thought about using a pan but I decided that I wanted to be able to see inside of whatever was over it. I sure didn't want it to get out and me not know about it until Austin went to dispose of it. How horrible would that be? Not to mention the smell.
I am now on the lookout for a new glass bowl. Naturally the only one that was clean was my favorite. Needless to say my new project is to clean the leftovers out of the fridge.
Reading that it sounds like there might be a lot of leftovers in my fridge but that is not the case. I only had 3 glass bowls all in different sizes. The one over the snake happens to be my largest. The one that I use for making bread, cookies, cakes, salads, noodles, or sauces. In other words EVERYTHING!! I guess I could use one of my Pyrex bowls for that but it just wouldn't be the same. Well, that and I don't want my husband to get a hold of them.
I collect old Pyrex bowls that have the designs on the outside. The funkier the color or design the better. I mostly use them for serving and decoration. I sure don't want my husband to think that they are to be used as everyday mixing bowls. He has a tendency to break things and some of those bowls I paid good money for.
So now to wait for Austin to get home and get the snake out of my basement.
Is it just me or is this week going extremely slow. Thursday is taking forever to get here.

A long weekend

Or maybe it just felt that way. We were busy from Saturday morning until we went to bed on Sunday.

Austin left Saturday for Slovakia. I actually didn't have to drive him to the airport this time. He got wise and got a driver from work.

I had to have him at Sauer at 2. That sounds easy enough right. Well not for him. at 11:30 he asked me if he had any clean work jeans. Naturally the answer was no because if he doesn't bring his clothes at least to the bathroom then I assume they are clean. They weren't, they were sitting in the corner of the bedroom with a pile of dirty socks and misc stuff.

Mind you there is a hamper in the closet where I put all my dirty stuff, but I digress... So after throwing him some jeans in the washer and then the dryer we actually got out the door on time.

He even had clean underwear thanks to me. I had gone upstairs to get my hair clip and noticed he had a pile of underwear on the bed so I helpfully took them downstairs and put them in his suitcase. I'm not one bit ashamed to say that that was my one and only good dead of the day.

After dropping Austin off I had to go to Wal-Mart and buy some new curtains and a b-day present for a b-day party we had to go that evening.

I am still upset about my curtains. Austin squashed a bloody bug on them and got the blood everywhere. I did get the blood out and had the curtain laying to dry on my table in the kitchen. Austin, Mason and I went to a friends house and came back and the curtain was in the dog kennel where Hyde had torn a huge hole in it. I don't like the new curtains. I know big surprise. I think I will remind Austin of this often. After all it is his fault they were off the window.

After Wal-Mart Mason and I went to a b-day party for another 1 year old. Fun stuff ya know. Presents, supper, cake and homemade ice cream. Yum, homemade ice cream!! Then the little kids went swimming. Who would have thought that the second weekend in July would be chilly. Well it was so the kids didn't swim too long.

After the swimming we picked cherries. I detest picking cherries. Growing up we had a cherry tree and every year we picked cherries. I think mom used it as more of a punishment than anything. After all my years of practice I have gotten good and picking and pitting cherries. So that is exactly what I did on Sunday.

Sunday Mason blessedly slept in and we had a very lazy morning. About 1 we headed up to Jess's house to pit cherries. Pitting cherries is very messy, very very messy. Not to mention long and tedious.

It wasn't as bad as I remember. That could be because this was done by choice not by order and threat of grounding. It was nice sitting around pitting cherries with Jess, a nice breeze coming in the windows, the tv in the background for noise, and the kids playing nice on the floor. I will still count it as being part of my lazy Sunday. It didn't feel like work at the time. My hands felt it the next day but as you can tell I survived.

After Pizza Hut for supper Mason and I got home about 8. Mason went right upstairs to bed with minimal fussing.

Monday morning Mason woke up about his normal time and was ready to play. So that is exactly what we did all day. I think we wore each other out because by the time it was bed time we were both beat and neither of us put up a fight. Needless to say we are ready for Austin to be home. Even though he is a pain in the butt I still like it better when he is here.

Now all I have to do is find something to fill the rest of today and Wednesday. This week is taking forever.

In all the excitment...

of Austin going out of town. (He is to bring me something back this time.) I forgot to mention that I am getting a new bathroom this fall. Complete with the washer and dryer in the closet.
I am so excited!!!! I have been begging for this for a long time. A really long time. Since the second day we lived here to be exact.
Austin did say he could sooner if I didn't mind going to the bathroom in a bucket for awhile but I think I can contain my excitement. I believe I will wait until he do it all at one time.
I am just so excited!! A bathtub!! Now that is the stuff dreams are made out of.

What noise oh wise one?

I was nice and let Austin drive my car to the airport and he comes home and says it is making a weird noise. I ask him to replicate this noise and he tells me, "I think it is the brakes." I ask again for him to explain the noise. He won't just gets mad and says it is the brakes. So $150 later I now have new front brakes. I saw the brakes they were not bad he just wanted to replace them.
He is the kind of customer that I hated when I worked in the office of the repair shop. He is the type that only wants you to repair what he says even if it is not the problem. The type that will then come in again because it is still making the noise and blame you for not fixing it to begin with. That is my husband and his infinite wisdom.
He changed the oil before he did the brakes and fixed the problem. Low power steering fluid. I surmised from this information that the noise was from him turning the wheel all the way to one direction or the other. Sometimes I would like to be able to just kick his butt.

All by himself!!

Yes, that is how Austin got to the airport. All by himself!! I was so excited. Although somehow he woke Mason up on his way out the door. I think he might have checked on him before he left.

Mason doesn't wake up when you enter the room but right after you leave the room. Thankfully he went back to sleep right away but was still up early. It probably doesn't help that I went to bed really late. Really really late. I just have so much on my mind that I couldn't get relaxed enough to fall asleep.

We'll have to see how tonight goes. I plan on going to bed early depending on how well Mason goes down. The first night Austin is out of town is always the worst. Hyde seems to be on hyper alert all night. The second night goes real smooth because he has worn himself out by mid-afternoon. I hope that is how I will fall asleep tonight. From utter exhaustion. I have already deep cleaned my kitchen and bathroom and done 3 loads of laundry. I know 3 loads doesn't sound like a lot but I don't use the drier in the summer. So all those clothes have to be hung up and then taken down. Considering my washer will do 16 pairs of jeans in one load that is a lot of laundry. I even did Austin's. Well it was actually mostly Austin's darn him. In case anyone is wondering yes there are still snakes in my basement so I am still protesting laundry which is why there was that much. I like to one load a day so that stays done and put away. I hate laundry piling up. Now I am just rambling so I need to go find a new project.

I think...

that I have convinced Austin that it will be cheaper for him to drive himself to the airport and leave the car in the short term parking. We will see come morning I guess.

Friday, June 13, 2008

Yep

It is Friday and I have left the property one time. That is it. One time, and that was to go grocery shopping. My life is boring!

Well Tuesday Austin leaves for Ohio. Wednesday he gets home. I have agreed to take him to and pick him up from the airport. He tells me that he told me what time he has to leave and the time that he would be getting back. I say BULL SHIT!! If I had been aware of the time I would have said no. Well I can't change it now so I might want to get over it.

Tuesday we have to leave the house at 3 am. Yes that is in the morning. Then on Wednesday I have to be back at the airport to pick him up at 11:50 pm. So I will get 3 horrible nights of sleep. Wonderful. I have already informed him that he is taking Friday off to help me get ready for VACATION. Then I spelled it out that his only job on Friday is to keep Mason from CRYING.

It seems like whenever I want to do something Mason cries the whole time. I take a 10 min shower and Mason cries. I wash dishes and he cries. Take out the trash and he cries. Don't think it gets better when Austin is home. Nope because he doesn't care if he cries. I have had to get rough with Austin. I don't like hearing Mason cry. Therefore I have explained to Austin that from now on while I am getting ready to go somewhere and he is to be watching Mason that if Mason cries, even little peeps, that I get to ask a question. The beginning of crying is one question and then if he continues to cry for every 30 seconds is another question. Any question that I want and he can't get mad and has to answer it. Last time I got to ask 10 questions. My husband hates questions. Not just nosy questions but any questions. Even if I ask him what he wants for dinner. That qualifies as a question. So hopefully he is more willing to not just let Mason cry. Otherwise he will have a long drive to Mt. Rushmore. 10 minutes of crying is 20 questions and he will have all day to let them add up. I also had to explain to him that he has to be nice to everybody while we are vacation. I think he got more upset about that than anything.

Next Saturday morning about 3 we will head up to Hwy 20 and then go west to Sioux City where we will be meeting the rest of my family to caravan to Rapid City SD. I told him if he is tired of me by that point that I can always drive Mason and he can ride with someone else. He told me no that it will be me riding with someone else. (See what I did there? Reverse psychology;) gotta love me) I had to make him feel like it is his idea. Therefore I will try my hardest to annoy him all the way to Sioux City. I have to be sneaky though. If he finds out what I am doing he will be impossible and I will be stuck driving the rest of the way.

Bad Mommy Morning!!

Austin gets home today!! Yeah! Oh why bother, I could take him or leave him today. Why? Well because I am picking him up from work at about noon. Then he is coming home... with me... and its raining!! That means he is going to be a thorn in my backside ALL DAY! I suppose I will just have to get over it.

Now on to why this is a Bad Mommy Morning. First happened right off the bat. While I was getting his breakfast around he was crawling around the dining room. I know it sounds harmless enough right. Well wrong. Last night when I washed sippies and bottles I was a sippy short. Couldn't find it for the life of me. It was about 9 when I was doing all this and I was very tired so I figured I would find it in the morning. Yep!! Mason found it. I knew it was about half full and he brought it to me empty and had milk on his chin. I felt horrible. I opened it up and it didn't smell spoiled but I felt really bad. He hasn't thrown up yet so I am assuming he is OK. Second, I vacuumed. I usually wait until Austin gets home so one of can distract Mason. Not today I just let Mason cry while I vacuumed. Third, I took a shower. I know that sounds normal right? Nope because I have to take the whole highchair in the bathroom with me because otherwise he will scream and scream until he upchucks. Needless to say I usually shower before going to bed to avoid this. Well I didn't make it that far last night and so I put his toys on the tray and into the bathroom we went. He was okay for about 5 minutes. Then he got fussy. Well by the time I was out of the shower he was asleep and you know what I just left him there. I tiptoed my butt upstairs and left him there asleep. It wouldn't matter how gentle I was if I tried to get him out of the high chair and into the p-n-p he would wake up and be grumpy.

So there are my bad mommy moments of the day and I didn't even include the animal cracker he ate out of the dog kennel. I think it is one he found in the high chair he was playing by and he took it into the dog kennel because I am fairly sure if Hyde found a cracker in his home he would have eaten it. So I am not counting that one. I figure the day only has to get better right? Then I remember that Austin gets home today and the only things left on my honey-do list are all outside and it is raining. Maybe Mason will take a long afternoon nap and save us from fighting.

Bee-u-te-full

Tuesday morning Mason and I took Austin to the airport. We had to leave the house at 6:45 a.m. That is about the time I usually get up. I hadn't slept well because of the wonderful thunderstorm that went thru about 3. It was like trying to sleep under a strobe light. I woke Mason up early enough that he could eat before we left but he didn't want anything so on the way home he was grumpy because he was hungry and the SUN... yes I said sun... was in his eyes. He had better get used to that. We can switch to a front facing car seat at a year but we aren't going to. It is much safer to sit rear facing as long as possible so that is what we are going to do. I figure if he never knows the difference it won't matter.

The rest of Tuesday went fairly well. At least until around the time that Austin would usually be getting home. Hyde goes on watch and barks at everything. We got lucky though because it was so nice outside we were outside alot more than usual and wore Hyde out. So he sat on the couch about 7 and fell asleep and I had to carry him up to bed. What a spoiled watch dog.

Wednesday Mason woke up really early. I mean who can sleep with sunlight spilling in the bedroom window. I am usually a morning person but I was dragging butt today. Mason woke up at 5:30 and I left him there until 7. He fussed for about 5 minutes and I thought he had gone back to sleep but then I hear him running his linka doos up back and forth on the crib slats. Thankfully he got tired of that really quick like and just talked (screamed) to himself for a while. He was so happy all morning. Then we took a nap and he woke up all grumpy so we went outside to play. Mason didn't know what to think of the grass.

Now we are back inside and he is trying to destroy my house. Banging things around and tearing apart a cheerios box. Now we are off to the grocery store. Fun! Fun!!

Austin Is Home!!

Austin is home finally. It was great to pick him up from the airport last night. His flight ended up being delayed but that is okay. At least he is home. I have already informed him that as soon as he gets home today I will not be touching the baby for the rest of the night. He seemed okay with that so we will have to see what tonight actually brings. I am just so glad he is home! So glad in fact that I made him breakfast and packed his lunch. I even told him that we could have chili for supper and that I would make corn bread. I'll play the good wife till he gets home at least.

I was playing with the camera before he left for Slovakia.

(I'm really hoping that he gives up and shaves soon!)

Is It Sunday Yet!!!!

This has been one of the longest weeks ever I think.
Mason is teething and somewhere he has developed a cough and isn't sleeping very well. Last night he went down at about 8 and slept until 11. Then he was up until 2 when I gave up and took him to bed with me. I know, horrible. How could I? Well a person can only sleep in a recliner for so many nights in a row. I already sleep horribly when Austin is out of town. Add a cranky non-sleeping baby on top of it and we are not fit for polite company.
Austin gets home Sunday night at 8:30. I cannot wait. I will be waiting at the airport for him with bells on. It would be nice to be able to leave Mason with his grandparents while I go get him but it would be after 10 by the time we got back to pick him up. So I will just take him with me.
Austin told me today that I don't get to see the photos from his trip until next Friday when we have all of our friends over. I think that is totally unfair. For crying out loud it is my camera that I graciously let him borrow. OH!! I almost forgot... He took the memory cards for the old camera also so I had NO camera here all week. I think I am going through withdrawals. It really upset me though because every morning and I mean EVERY morning since Mason was born I have taken a photo of him before getting him out of bed and this last week with no camera here I am going to be missing a week of his first year. Lets just say our first conversation after he got to Vienna was not nice. I am honestly surprised that he called me back at all the rest of the week. Good thing I'm not bitter about it.
I am just really excited to get my husband home again. To be able to hit him in the middle of the night to take the dog out instead of me getting out of bed is priceless. Truly priceless. It is even fun to do this when the dog doesn't have to go out. You know, for those days he has been especially ... um.... sweet. Yeah that is the word I was looking for. Oh if only it wasn't me that would ultimately have to clean up the flaming dog poo off the porch... Sorry I got side tracked... So I am excited to get him home even though I won't get to see much of him until Monday night. We will get home just in time to go to bed because trust me after 24 hours of traveling he isn't good for anything but sleeping. Bummer... So I will have to wait until Monday night for any good adult conversation because he has meetings early Monday morning at work. He is usually able to take the next day off if he gets in on a Saturday or Sunday but not this time. I have already informed him that he is going to owe me big time. He acted like I was joking. Odd I don't remember it being funny.

Friday Again.

Well, my week has gone fast. Surprising because Austin is in Slovakia. I dropped him at the airport on Monday and made my way to mom's. I took the long way and stopped at Grandma's first. It isn't very often that we get to see her without all 29 other people being there. We had a nice time. Mason was his usual cute self. Pulled her phone off the counter and played with the broom. Just wonderful. We also stopped at Menards and saw Aunt Cammie at work. She just couldn't wait to show him off. Finally about 3:30 we made it to mom's. A whole 8 hours after we left home. Amazingly Mason went to bed at his normal time. I however didn't and Mason got up at his normal time on Tuesday which made for a long day for me.
Tuesday we went to the Great Grandparents for lunch and play time. We got there after morning nap about 10:30 and left about 2. Mason was cute and wonderful. Ate grandma's mashed potatoes like they were candy. After there we went to pick up Cammie's little boys, Daniel and Isaac, at the babysitters. I took them to mom's with me and they didn't behave like always. They are the worst behaving little heathens ever. Cameron came and rescued me about 3:30. I made my way upstairs to the bathroom and locked the door so I could take a nice long soak. After all those years she took advantage of me by doing the exact same thing I didn't feel too bad.
Wednesday we lounged around mom's in the morning with Cammie and Isaac. About 2 we went to the Great-Grandparents house. Mason however did not behave well. He was crying and fussy. He didn't want to go to Grandma and I could under no circumstances leave his sight. We left about 5:30 to go to Daniels soccer game. It was chilly and really windy so we didn't stay for the end of it. They don't keep score anyways so what is the point. We spent the rest of the evening with my mom and dad in quiet. Cameron and her boys didn't come down.
Thursday everybody worked so I came home. The wind was horrible on the way home and it was raining. That doesn't make for fun driving. There were some pretty bad storms across Iowa in the early evening. We lost power for a little bit. My little windmill by the drive way got destroyed in the wind and there are now things all over the yard. What do you know though the stupid corn crib is still standing. I am sure if the wind was blowing that hard in any other direction it would be a pile of ruins. As luck would have it the wind was coming straight from the east and that is the direction that it leans. So basically the wind was holding it up. You could hear the stupid thing popping and creaking clear in the house. Maybe one of these days we will get lucky and the thing will just fall over. Probably not though.
So that is how my week has gone. Hopefully tonight and this weekend will go better. I am more than ready for a good nights sleep. Austin has called everyday which has helped my anxiety issues. I worry about him when he is traveling out of the country. When he called a little bit ago though he was back in Vienna getting ready for bed which for some reason put me at ease. Tomorrow he is going to be site seeing in Vienna and is really excited about it. I told him to get me something. He asked if he should get Mason something also and I told him not if it makes him get me something not as nice as if he didn't get Mason anything. So we will see. Afterall it isn't like Mason is even going to know. I know I need to mark that down as another good mommy moment.
Weather permitting Mason and I are going to the VEISHA parade tomorrow with G-pa Jeff and G-ma Robin. I know he won't know what is going on this year but we should have fun anyways.

Slovakia

My husband is going out of the country for work sometime in April. I can't wait. A week alone? No getting up early to make him lunch. No having to make him an eatable supper. No nagging about laundry or dishes. Just the dog, the baby and me. I keep teasing him that we need to take separate vacations. He looked at me like I was crazy. All I did was suggest that he could take a long weekend and go to his grandparents just him and Mason. I don't know what I would do without Mason. Well other than take a really hot really long shower. That would only take 15 minutes anyway. Normal shower time 7 minutes, if lucky. I'm blabbering. Anyways... What would I do with no one to take care of?

I need to remember to have him bring back some alchohol from there so I can try it. He tells me about it but that is truly only half the experience. I don't drink, maybe once every 5 years and I have decided that I need to try it so that I will know what he is talking about.

He tells me that I will have to drive him to the airport and pick him up. What?! Why? They have a shuttle at work. Someone that actually gets paid to take people to the airport and pick them up, crazy I know. That job would suck. So why do I have to do it. Not only is the airport over an hour away but I also have to wrangle Mason into being good. That and by the time Austin gets in and off the plane he doesn't want to go out to eat. He wants me to pick his butt up, be in a good mood, and come home and make him supper because he is cranky and tired of eating out. Let me just say NOT MY FAULT.

At least for this trip he has me on call alert. Did I forget to mention that is how I found out about this trip? The stupid airline did a test call to make sure I would get the messages if his flight was delayed or cancelled. I then called him and found out. He is so lucky I love him.

I think this time I will go down to Mom and Dads. It has been awhile since I have gotten to spend a week down there. That and someone will cook for me and take care of Mason. I really wish they lived closer. It would be nice for those nights when I don't want to cook to be able to call mom and tell her we are coming over for supper. My little sister has it so good.
